Through their important work of foraging for bugs and greens, our chickens and ducks help our gardens by providing their amazing compost, vigilant pest control and delicious eggs at the end of the day.
We raise American Guinea Hogs and Idaho Pasture Pigs out on pasture. Some of their favorite treats are weeds like invasive shiny geranium, burdock and dandilion. They are our favorite tool to root up a patch of weeds or to clear an area for garden planting.
Our beautiful family of Scottish Highland cattle has just increased to 5 with the addition of little Wolfgang and Teddy this February. They are amazing lawnmowers and fertilizers of our pasture and just so lovely to spend time watching on a lazy afternoon.
This little crew is full of fun and energy. We take them on daily walks around the property in search of their very favorite treats: blackberry, scotchbroom and burdock.
Our goal is to provide as much of our food as we can for our family and our animals right here on the property. So far we've been successful growing and good variety of things including: apples, pears, cherries, plums, lettuce, onions, garlic, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, squash, corn, beans, potatoes, eggs, pork and forage such as clover, rye and barley. This year we hope to produce enough to share even more with family, friends and local food banks.
